Three Dunwoody council members earn achievement certificates through GMA training

Dunwoody City Council Members Catherine Lautenbacher, Rob Price, and Joe Seconder received the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute‘s Certificate of Achievement during the Georgia Municipal Association’s (GMA) Annual Convention in Savannah on June 29.

The Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute is a cooperative effort between GMA and the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government, offering a nationally recognized series of training opportunities for city officials, according to a release from the city.

Earning the certificate requires 72 hours of training, including at least 36 hours of required coursework and completion of the Newly Elected Officials Institute.

“Serving the residents and businesses of Dunwoody means investing the time to continually learn, grow, and better understand the complex issues that affect our community,” Seconder said. “This training provides practical knowledge, fresh perspectives, and valuable connections with municipal leaders across our region and Georgia.”

“GMA training offers a great opportunity to build my knowledge, become a more effective council member, and network with representatives from other cities to learn about innovative ideas and best practices that could benefit Dunwoody,” Price said.

“I attend GMA conferences twice a year to learn more about how other cities operate and how I can operate better,” Lautenbacher said. “I always take away great ideas.”

Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, nonprofit organization that provides legislative advocacy, education, employee benefits, and consulting services to all of Georgia’s cities. GMA offers leadership, tools, and services to help municipal governments become more innovative, effective, and responsive.
